President Mubarak Friday night inaugurated the African Cup of Nation at Cairo stadium which witnessed the first match between Egyptian national soccer team and Libyan soccer team that ended with Egypt's national team victory 3/0.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Mrs. Suzanne Mubarak, Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Nazif and a large number of officials including Mohamed Bin Hammam, the Deputy Chairman of FIFA.
The opening ceremony included a paratroopers show and nearly one hour show featuring Egypt's civilizational aspects.

Thousands of fans massed up at the stadium carrying Egypt's flag. The ceremony witnessed statements by Hany Abu Reeda, the Chairman of the Organizing Committee followed by Isa Hayato, the Chairman of the African Football Federation.
Hayato praised the massive welcome the African missions received on their arrival at Cairo airport. He hailed the unprecedented facilities extended to the competing teams.
Scoring for the Egyptian national team last night were striker Ahmed Hossam MIDO, midfielder Mohamed Abu Trika and Midfielder Ahmed Hassan.
