The spokesman of Foreign Ministry voiced surprise towards what has been attributed to an Iranian official, in regards to considering the statements of foreign minister Ahmed Abul- Gheit concerning Iran and its role in the region.
The spokesman stated on 28/8/2007 that the Iranian insinuation concerning what the foreign minister mentioned with regards to the Iranian role in the Arab affair implies an incomprehensive understanding of the Egyptian foreign policy, its working methods, constants and basis.
He added that this degree of lack of understanding of the policy of a pivotal regional country, like Egypt, is an astonishing matter.
The spokesman called upon the Iranian official to refer to the various situations in which the Egyptian Foreign Minister issued statements whether in relation to the core of the Egyptian- Iranian relations, or the issues related to the developments of the Iranian nuclear dossier and the Iranian relations with the western countries and the international community, and at the same time recalling the different statements made by Iranian officials in which they presented Iranian proposals to assist Arab parties in the problems and crises facing the region.
The spokesman said that all these statements are obvious for those who closely follow up the issues.
