"Egypt condemned the recent Israeli aggression on Gaza Strip which left a large number of Palestinians dead and wounded," the spokesman for the Foreign Ministry said.

"It is lamentable that the killing occurred as world community, led by Egypt, is trying to find ways to salvage peace efforts,"the Ministry said in a statement, carried by the Middle East News Agency (MENA).

"At a time when the international community is trying to bring the Palestinians & the Israelis to the negotiation table, this kind of act is not conducive to an atmosphere of peace making,"the statement added.

"On the contrary, such actions fuel the vicious cycle of violence,"it said .
