Egypt calls on Quartet to halt Israeli attacks on Gaza

Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul-Gheit addressed urgent messages to the foreign Ministers of the International Quartet and a number of the foreign Ministers of big European powers on the occasion of the quartet convention in Berlin today.

In his messages, Minister Abul Gheit called for taking decisive measures for halting further deterioration in Gaza and ending the military operations launched by Israel on Gaza strip.

This came in a statement by the Press spokesman of the foreign Ministry, who said Minister Abul Gheit explained Egypt's efforts for halting further escalation between the Israeli and Palestinian sides.

He denounced resort by Israel to use force, calling for maintaining cooling down.

Minister Abul Gheit dealt with Egypt's efforts to organize dialogues among Palestinian factions in order to reach an agreement on avoiding further deterioration in Palestinian territories.
