Egypt hopes for Lebanese accord over tribunal

"Egypt still hopes for a Lebanese accord on establishing an international tribunal into the killing of former premier Rafiq Hariri," said Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul Gheit after talks Wednesday 16/5/2007 with visiting Lebanese Justice Minister Charles Rizk.

Abul Gheit said that their meeting took up Lebanese developments and the issue of the international court.

The Foreign Minister said that any Lebanese agreement on the court issue would be welcomed by the international community.

Abul Gheit said that the Lebanese parties should sit together to address the concerns of some parties that the international court could open the door for foreign interference in Lebanon's internal affairs.
