Egypt urges strong Arab stance for nuke-free M.E.
Egyptian Foreign Minister Abul-Gheit, heading Egyptian delegation at Arab FMs meetings, affirmed necessity of adopting strong common Arab situation regarding evacuating the Middle East region of nuclear weapons.
He added in press statements, that Arab leaders will also discuss during their Arab summit a report on results of Iraq's neighbors meeting with Egypt and the five permanent UNSC members, held in Baghdad on March 10. Arab leaders will probe as well the Lebanese file.
The Summit agenda includes 16 items covering all current Arab issues. It is expected that the conference will accredit a proposal to form an Arab commission chaired by Saudi Arabian king to follow up and activate the 2002 Arab initiative.
On the other hand, the permanent delegates at the Arab League approved an Egyptian proposal to hold now and then consultative summits. Saudi Arabian delegate chairing the meeting told pressmen that suggestions were sent to Arab FMs meeting set to be held in Riyadh today.
He disclosed that Egypt and Saudi Arabia submitted a work paper concerning Arab security including assigning a team of experts to prepare a report on dangers jeopardizing the Arab nation.
He finally pointed out that Egypt and Kuwait proposed to hold an Arab-African summit to probe fields of cooperation.
