Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul Gheit has sent a strongly-worded letter to his Israeli opposite number Tzipi Livni over the documentary.

Abul-Gheit tackled the issue face-to-face with Livni in a meeting last week in the Belgian capital of Brussels, demanding her to provide clear explanation of what had happened.

"This documentary raises many questions on the commitment of this unit to the abiding international laws and the treatment of prisoners in wars," Abul Gheit said in his letter.

"The documentary shows that there was no need to use excessive force against the Egyptian special forces," he said.

Abul Gheit said Israel must investigate the matter and notify Egypt of the results.
