The Egyptian Foreign Ministry has condemned statements by a Dutch Member of Parliament (MP) in which he attacked Islam and Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Such statements are unacceptable. The Foreign Ministry Spokesman wondered what could have happened if any Dutch MP criticized another religion or prophet. Arab and Islamic societies are different from the West as their peoples respect other religions and prophets, he said.
Egypt is considering placing the attack against Islam on the agenda of the coming Organization of Islamic Conference meeting to take a unified stance on those attacking Islam and Prophet Muhammad, he noted.
The statements of the Dutch MP to a local newspaper has reflected the ugly face of some people in the West who claim a prerogative to criticize others on human rights while they continue false criticism of other religions.
The Foreign Ministry will raise the issue with the Dutch Ambassador in Cairo, said the spokesman.
