Egyptian Foreign Ministry denies Egyptians killed in Lebanon blasts

The Foreign Ministry denied reports that an Egyptian citizen was among those killed in the two bomb explosions that occurred in Beirut on Tuesday 13/2/2007.

Assistant Foreign Minister for Consular Affairs Mohamed Manissi said the Lebanese director general of internal security forces had asserted to the Egyptian ambassador in Beirut that there was no Egyptian man killed in the explosions after having verified the identity of the victims.

Mohamed al-Mahmoud, who was reported as an Egyptian national killed in the explosions turned out to be Syrian, Manissi said.
