Egypt has called on the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Conference to move promptly for halting risks and threats posed by Israelis to Al Aqsa Mosque.
Sources of the Foreign Ministry said this came at two urgent messages addressed by Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul-Gheit to the United Nations Secretary General Bank Ki Moon and OIC Secretary General.
Abul-Gheit called on both organizations to shoulder their responsibilities towards excesses committed by Israel at Al Aqsa Mosque.
The Foreign Minister directed the Egyptian missions to the United Nations in New York and Geneva to call for an urgent meeting by the Arab and Islamic groups to discuss how to move collectively and tangibly for facing up to the Israeli excesses and their bearing on the Middle East peace process
The Foreign Ministry had taken a number of urgent measures regarding the Israeli excavations at Al Aqsa Mosque compound.
The Foreign Ministry had also asked UNESCO to dispatch an urgent mission to the occupied territories for uncovering facts about the Israeli excavations.
